Commercial Activities on Council-managed Land Policy

Consultation has concluded

There are many commercial activities conducted on Council-managed land in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area which contribute to a great and vibrant public space and offer valued services to locals and visitors. These include water activities (surf schools, stand up paddle etc), personal or group training, boot camps and other activities using our beaches, parks and reserves. Council wants to ensure these spaces can be used safely, enjoyed by all and adequately maintained.

In 2015, Council adopted a Commercial Activities on Council-managed Land Policy to facilitate commercial activity while ensuring all commercial users of Council-managed land are appropriately licensed and insured. It aims to give the community certainty that commercial entities are correctly insured and licenced to operate in nominated locations. The Policy was reviewed and amended slightly in 2017 and two years later, is again due for a review. Hence, Council is seeking feedback from commercial operators and our community on the policy and its effectiveness in ensuring appropriate use of our Council managed parks and reserves for commercial and community recreation and activity.
