Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has been successful in applying for a $50,000 grant to upgrade Lasiandra Park into a vibrant intergenerational play space.

Council will match the funding from the NSW Department of Family & Community Services grant under the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund. Under this scheme Council has been successful in receiving three grants in three years with Oxide Park and the Arboretum at Kooloonbung Creek Nature Reserve each receiving a transformative upgrade.

Funds have been approved for the playground upgrade including outdoor fitness equipment, slide, intergenerational swing, disability friendly picnic setting, dual flying fox and new park bench seating.

Council will be engaging with the local community, Bunyah Aboriginal Lands Council, the Wauchope Progress Association and residents of Bundaleer Retirement Village about the draft design of the play space.

A final Concept Plan has been developed and is available for viewing. This design incorporates feedback received during the community consultation stage including provision of an additional pavilion for gatherings, input on types of preferred fitness equipment and locating of a basketball half court as possible stage 2 future works.

Submissions for feedback on the draft concept plan closed on 30 October 2017
