Developing a Community Plan for the Hastings Hinterland

Consultation has concluded

The Hastings Hinterland community have been working together with Council in a Community-Council Action Team to create a draft Community Plan for your community.

The Plan is a community-led blueprint which reflects the aspirations, strengths and what is special or unique about the area; the character, lifestyle, urban amenity, social image, economy and environment, and the vision that the community has for its future.

This Community Plan is accompanied by an ongoing Action Plan which identifies key priorities and actions to achieve the community’s vision - the responsibility for which will be shared between the community and Council.

Ongoing community planning is a key process in developing a strong partnership between Council and the community and will enable Council to:

  • Understand what communities value;
  • Understand the issues and priorities for each community;
  • Better incorporate these priorities into Council’s planning framework;
  • Work together to deliver the identified priorities.

The Hastings Hinterland Community Plan evolved from:

  • An online and postcard survey in August-September 2019
  • Two Council-coordinated Think Tank workshops were held in September at which community members identified and prioritised values, issues and opportunities for the Hastings Hinterland now and in the future.

Before we can start working on the delivery of the actions, we want to hear from you!

The draft Community Plan will be available for comment from Friday 9 October until Friday 6 November 2020 and during that time, the document can be downloaded from the Document Library (to the right or below if viewing this page on a mobile device) and copies will be made available at the Wauchope Council Offices and Library.

  • Completing the online survey below; or
  • Sending an email to communityplans@pmhc.nsw.gov.au; or
  • Speaking to a member of the Community-Council Action Team (as outlined in the Plan); or
  • Posting your response to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, PO Box 84, Port Macquarie NSW 2444.

Your feedback should be received no later than Friday 6 November 2020.

All comments will be considered before finalising the Community Plan and Action Plan, which will be presented to the Councillors for endorsement at the December 2020 Council meeting.

The Community-Council Action Team will then work on the delivery of the actions identified and prioritised in the Action Plan.
