Consultation has concluded

Bain Park is a significant recreational space located in the centre of Wauchope’s CBD. Council will be embarking on a series of comprehensive community engagement activities in order to prepare a Master Plan to guide future development. Widespread community engagement and participation is vital to ensure all members of the community have the opportunity to have their say and provide feedback on the development of the plan.

The Bain Park Master Plan is coming to life with design and construction of the first two stages of the plan set to start mid-year.

Thanks to a $1.45 million grant under the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program we are on track to deliver a range of elements to the community, including:

  • New shaded playground (on the site of the existing one)
  • New bike/scooter pump track
  • High Street entry upgrade
  • Public art
  • Circular pathway with landscaping and lighting
  • Avondale Street entry upgrade
  • Removal of Chinese Tallow trees
  • Re-incorporation of centenarian plaques and volunteer recognition bricks

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Bain Park Master Plan - you have helped to create the overall design for Bain Park. We are now seeking input into the look and feel of the new playground.

We would like to hear from current and future playground users to help us design a space that you want to visit!

There are a number of ways to have your say:

  • Complete the online survey below
  • Visit us in Bain Park on Saturday 4 June 1pm - 4pm (this is the day of the Community Preparedness Day - a fun, family day out not to be missed!)
  • Kids between 4-12yrs can take part in our drawing competition (you could win a family pass to Timbertown!)*

Please submit your feedback by 5pm Sunday 19 June.

We are excited to be collaborating with primary school students in Wauchope on the design of the new playground too! Kids at Wauchope Public and St Joseph's Primary School, Wauchope should keep an eye out at school for ways that they can contribute. We will display the feedback at our stand in Bain Park on 4 June.

*Download the drawing competition or pick up a copy from our Customer Service Centre, Wauchope or the Wauchope Library. Return your entry to the same locations or email a scanned copy to engagement@pmhc.nsw.gov.au by 5pm, Sunday 19 June.

Public Art

The public art pieces include a High Street entry installation and sculptural seating located under the trees in the centre of the park. These will be selected by a Public Art Reference Panel through an expression of interest process. Expressions of Interest will open in June and publicised on this page and across Council and other media channels.

Next Steps

In July this year, we will appoint a consultant to transform the Master Plan into a detailed design ready for construction. They will consider all of the feedback and ideas that you have shared about the playground during the design process.

We will share the concept design with the community before construction begins.

Bain Park will be closed during construction, which is expected to be completed in December 2022, weather permitting.
