Changes to signage in public area regulations

Consultation has concluded

Event signage

There are regulations about the use of signage at a State level and a local government level. At present a number of restrictions that make it difficult to approve appropriate signage that does not conflict with the State provisions.

In order to make these regulations consistent and less complicated, a number of changes are proposed at a local government level by making amendments to the Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Environmental Plan 2011 (LEP).

The intent of these changes is:

  1. To simplify the process for local sporting groups (including Surf Life Saving) and Marine Rescue to raise funds from sponsors' advertising
  2. To provide more flexibility for community and event signage
  3. To rationalise the controls over signage on bus shelters and public seating
  4. To maintain the permissibility of restaurants and cafes at the five surf lifesaving beaches.
