What is IPART ?

The NSW Government has appointed the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) to make decisions on the maximum amount NSW councils can collect in general revenue through an annual 'rate peg'.

When council's wish to set higher charges through special rate variations above the annual rate peg, this is done by submitting an application to IPART for review and assessment.

You can read more about this on the IPART website  (External link)IPART and Special Rate Variations

Has Council already made a decision to apply for the SRV?

No decision has been made at this time.

The changes to the Delivery Program and the Long Term Financial Plan have been made so that Council meets the eligibility criteria.

The decision about whether or not to apply for the SRV will be made by Council in February after reviewing all information including the views expressed by the local community.
