Developing a Community Plan for the Camden Haven

In October 2018, members of the Camden Haven community came together in a series of Community Think Tank workshops to:

  • Tell us what they like about their community;
  • Draft a vision for the community;
  • Identify key themes for their community and
  • Identify actions that they would like to see delivered in the next 3-5 years.

A Community-Council Action Team (C-CAT) for the local community has been established and is currently working together to draft a Community Plan for the area. This Plan will then go out to the community for further input and feedback before being endorsed by Council.

There is still time to be a part of this Action Team. If you would like to shape the future direction of your community, find out more and complete a nomination form.

Priorities of the Camden Haven Community-Council Action Team

Over the past 3 months, representatives from the local Camden Haven community have come together with Council to establish a Community-Council Action Team (C-CAT) who are developing a Community Plan and Action Plan for the area.

The Camden Haven C-CAT have identified the development of a "Shared Pathway Network" around the Camden Haven and the joining of the three community-instigated pathways - Beach to Beach (B2B), School to School (S2S) and Creek to Creek (Ck2Ck) as the top priority for the area. Significant work on these pathways has been completed under the initiative of the community. In order for the Camden Haven C-CAT to move ahead on this Shared Pathway Network, the C-CAT is advocating to include the following actions into Council’s Operational Plan for 2019/20:

  • Provide ongoing support to develop a Strategic Pathways Plan to consolidate and construct the B2B, Ck2Ck and S2S network in alignment with other identified key linkages to public spaces, reserves, national parks and recreational parks.
  • Construct the section of the S2S Pathway requested between Sirius Drive and Brotherglen Dr Lakewood. This is the last remaining section of the pathway that will connect Lakewood residential and commercial with Camden Haven High and the Village of Kew. This will allow Students, Mobility Scooters and general pedestrian access, from homes to school and both shopping precincts. This is an extremely important pedestrian link for the developing local community.
