Kew

Council is working with the Kew community to review the Kew Masterplan. As one of the jewels in our village communities, Kew is a vibrant hub with a rich heritage that has renewed itself in the last decade following the Pacific Highway bypass.

The plan focuses specifically on the intersection hub of Nancy Bird Walton Dive, Kendall Road and Ocean Drive. Traffic management, pedestrian connectivity and urban amenity are currently poorly defined in this area.

The Masterplan was initially prepared in 2010 and saw the completion of a number of elements including a roundabout at the intersection of Nancy Bird Walton Drive / Ocean Drive / Kendall Road, wide medians with canopy trees, footpaths, kerb ramps and landscaping.

The masterplan will guide the future of the Kew CBD and includes improvements to road safety and parking, urban amenity and streetscape beautifications, and accessibility and better pedestrian connectivity to the vibrant intersection hub.

Community participation in this masterplanning process is vital and Council is keen to see strong participation by the community in developing the future vision of Kew. The next months will feature a range of engagement opportunities for the community to build on this previous work and contribute to the development of the Kew Masterplan.

The Kew Main Street Masterplan concept is available now for viewing from the document library located to the right of your screen (or below on mobile devices).

Council will be working with the community to review the current Masterplan, identify a clear vision and determine a set of goals.
