Noxious weed management

Community engagement on the project has now conclude.

On 28 February 2014, the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) published a list of new and previously declared noxious weeds.43 weed species have been added to the noxious weed list that affect the Port Macquarie Hastings LGA.

Some of the newly declared weed species have been previously sold as popular garden plantings through nurseries and market sales and plants such as Camphor Laurel have been used in urban streets and commemorative plantings.

Community engagement is planned to provide information about new weeds species, ways to manage and control them and to have an understanding of the role of Council in the management of weeds .

You can get involved by:

  • Downloading information from the document library including the table of weed species with the newly declared species highlighted in yellow.
  • Having a look at the proposed management zones for Camphor Laurel & Small Leaf Privet
  • Registering to attend a rural landholder workshop in Wauchope or Comboyne
