Consultation has concluded

A draft concept design for a new boardwalk and viewing platform adjacent to Tacking Point Lighthouse has been developed and we’d like your feedback!

The lighthouse is a much-loved icon of cultural, social and heritage significance. It is a popular destination for locals and visitors. We want to make this experience more inclusive and accessible while protecting the coastal environment and heritage significance of the site.

The boardwalk and viewing platform form part of the Tacking Point Lighthouse Reserve Masterplan (2012). The design is informed by a Conservation Management Plan for the site. In addition to making the boardwalk accessible, the design aims to minimise visual impact on the lighthouse, use robust materials, reduce environmental impact and appeal to visitors.

Construction will be reliant on funding - there is no timeline for construction at this stage.
