We have developed a concept design for Town Beach Amphitheatre. This amphitheatre will act as a multi-purpose outdoor performance space in Town Beach Park and is an objective of the Town Beach Masterplan 2009.

View the Concept Plan, FAQs and Noise Assessment.

Look and feel of the outdoor amphitheatre

  • The outdoor amphitheatre will integrate with Town Beach Park and its surrounding neighbourhood
  • It is located between Town Beach and adjacent Holiday Park. It will measure approximately 50m x 30m, will incorporate four grassed 3.5 m tiers, retained by large sandstone blocks generally 0.5 m high.
  • The adjacent grassed area will be an informal stage, which may change in location and size depending on events and activities
  • Events would typically occur during the times of 9am - 10pm and have a capacity of up to 200 persons.
  • Park pathways leading to and from the performance site will be improved for increased accessibility
  • A key component of the design is to also to improve pedestrian paths, electrical supply, stormwater works and landscaping planting.

How will the amphitheatre benefit our community?

The amphitheatre will expand on the recreational and cultural opportunities in the reserve and will be suitable for small-scale community events and activities that have relatively low noise impacts of activities and events including:

  • Open air performances
  • Children’s informal playspace
  • Informal picnic and meeting place
  • Community events including markets, Christmas events, school and choir performances
  • Music, theatre, dance, fitness and other community activities delivered by local providers and creative industries

There is also the potential for the venue to be used by music and community festivals, however it is noted that such events will be subject to their own development approvals with conditions around how and when the amphitheatre could be used. They will also need to demonstrate acceptable noise impact specific to the proposed event.
