William and Munster Streets Intersection Improvements
Consultation has concluded
Following a review of the William and Munster Streets intersection, a resolution from Council was determined at the 15 July 2020 Ordinary Council meeting to undertake community consultation regarding the proposed improvements of the intersection.
This location is a high traffic area which has a relatively high traffic incident record with five crashes recorded in the last 5 years, all of which were cross-traffic accidents.
Objective
In order to improve road safety at the William and Munster Streets intersection, we are considering extending the median strip on William Street through the Munster Street intersection to eliminate cross-traffic movements on Munster Street and right turns to/from Munster Street.
This is considered a short-term solution prior to any longer-term, more permanent traffic solutions, such as traffic lights, which involve greater planning, design and funding implications.
We are currently undertaking community consultation to understand how this proposed improvement will affect the surrounding businesses and residents as well as the broader community.
