Consultation has concluded

Our coastal areas are highly valued for recreational activities by residents and visitors alike. Port Macquarie Hastings Council recognises these areas are an important part of the Port Macquarie Hastings lifestyle.

Council is therefore preparing a Coastal Recreational User Needs Analysis as part of the development of the Coastal Management Program (CMP) to identify key recreational activities undertaken in the coastal zone, patterns in usage and the suitability of existing infrastructure to support recreation.

This survey is particularly for clubs, community groups and businesses operating, managing or maintaining reserves and/ or activities within the coastal area. Only ONE response per organisation is required.

A separate general community survey is available on Council's website for individuals who would like to be involved.

We have engaged Otium Planning Group to assist in the development of the Coastal Recreational User Needs Analysis.

What work has been completed to date?

Stage 1: Background Research - Involved reviewing Council’s plans and strategies; demographic analysis; trends and industry relevant research.

What stages are we currently up to?

Stage 2: Supply Analysis - A comprehensive audit of existing parks, open spaces and recreational facilities within the coastal recreation area by Otium Planning Group.

Stage 3: Community and Stakeholder Engagement.

What stages are yet to commence?

Stage 4: Needs Analysis and Opportunity Assessment – This stage involves undertaking demand and gap analysis, opportunity mapping and development of preliminary directions.

Stage 5: Strategy Development – Otium Planning Group will develop a draft report that is complemented by supporting volumes of background research and engagement findings. The draft report will be presented to Council for consideration ahead of a public exhibition process. The report will then be updated as required and finalised for implementation.
