Rainbow Beach Development

As a result of the passing of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Amendment Act 2017 in the NSW Parliament in November 2017, all planning authorities (including Councils) are required to prepare a Community Participation Plan (CPP) about how and when they will undertake community participation when exercising relevant planning functions.

Currently, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (PMHC) outlines community participation requirements in multiple documents. For example, participation requirements for development applications are currently contained in the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Development Control Plan 2013 (Chapter 1.3).

The purpose of the CPP is to provide a single document that the community can access that sets out all of council’s community participation requirements under the planning legislation, including all minimum mandatory exhibition timeframes.

A draft Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Community Participation Plan has been developed and we are now seeking the community's feedback before the CPP is published on the NSW Planning Portal, in December 2019.

The draft CPP is on public exhibition from Monday, 23 September 2019 to Tuesday, 29 October 2019 and can be viewed or downloaded from the Document Library (see right). The CPP is also available for view at Council’s offices during normal business hours and online.

During the exhibition period, all interested persons are invited to view the CPP and provide written comments. All comments received will be reported to a future Council Meeting for consideration prior to a final decision being made.

To provide your feedback, use the Online Submission tab below or see right for Other Ways to Have Your Say.

Any further enquiries, please contact Sandra Wallace on telephone (02) 6581 8111 or email to sandra.wallace@pmhc.nsw.gov.au
