Thamnk you for your interest in this project. Consultation has now concluded.
The existing Compliance Procedure, adopted in 2007, is out of date and does not provide enough detail in relation to reasoning, priorities and objectives of the compliance activities of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
There is a requirement for an updated policy clearly stating the procedures, methods and service levels to be applied when responding to complaints from members of the community. This will provide better guidance around allocation of Council resources to address regulatory issues which present the greatest risk.
The new Draft Regulatory Enforcement Policy is intended to give guidance regarding the process of receiving, acknowledging, assessing, investigating and where relevant, prosecuting reports of alleged unlawful activity.
With the introduction of this new Policy, Council is recommending the rescission of two existing policies:
Before making a policy obsolete or introducing a new policy it needs to be placed on exhibition so the community can have their say on this decision.
