Following the 2012 review of economic development and tourism services, in early 2013, Council resolved to establish an Economic Development Steering Group (EDSG) which would include representatives from local business, industry, Councillors and Council staff.

The draft Strategy is the result of a coordinated effort by the Economic Development Steering Group who have met since April 2013 to discuss and debate, plan and progress local and regionally significant economic outcomes that will continue the growth of the economy in the local government area.

The Port Macquarie Hastings Council Draft Economic Development Strategy has been prepared to guide Council’s work on economic development over the next three years. It aims to enhance the short, medium and long term local economic prospects of the greater Port Macquarie-Hastings region and the overall prosperity of the community.

The draft Strategy outlines our Economic Development Vision, Mission and the Key Outcomes and Actions that Council (in working with a wide range of stakeholders) is striving to achieve. It also outlines how we will be measuring the overall performance of our local economy over the life of the strategy.
