Council has prepared a draft Open Space Contributions Plan that specifies developer contributions that will help fund open space facilities needed by our growing population. It follows on from background work including the Recreation Needs Study 2015 and the Recreation Action Plan 2017.
Council levies development contributions under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (as amended) for the capital costs of new community facilities, like sports fields and playgrounds, that will serve the new development. These are sometimes called Section 94 contributions. Note that from 1 March 2018 the Act will be amended and new section numbers will apply. Section 94 will become Section 7.11.
To find out more about Council’s contributions plans go to Building and Planning Developer Contributions.
The draft Plan includes a list of new facilities and upgrades that are proposed to serve population growth and sets revised open space development contributions rates that would apply to development consents determined after the plan is adopted. The draft Plan will be on public exhibition commencing 1 March 2018 until 11 April 2018. During this period the draft plan and supporting information will also be available to view in the foyer of Council’s Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Laurieton offices between 8:30am and 4:30pm on normal business days.
A copy of the draft Plan is available for download from the document library to the right (or below if viewing on a mobile device).
Drop in Session
A community ‘Drop In’ information session will be held on Thursday 15 March 2018 between 10:00am and 1:00pm at the Port Macquarie Library Meeting Room, Grant Street, Port Macquarie.
