Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park Arboretum upgrade

Consultation has concluded

The Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park Arboretum in Port Macquarie will be upgraded following a successful $50,000 grant application by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.

The grant has been awarded under the NSW Department of Family & Community Services - Social Housing Community Improvement Fund to renew this valuable park land.

It is located next to the Historic Cemetery and will become a hub of activity through the creation of an intergenerational community play space.

In late 2016 a month of community engagement helped gather Ideas from park users, community and the Hastings Homeless Network and The Friends of Kooloonbung Creek. From this community feedback a concept plan has now been developed including the following:

  • replace tired and old furniture with new picnic tables and park benches
  • disability friendly footpath linking social BBQ gathering areas and play areas
  • scooter circuit
  • BBQ shelter
  • new bubbler
  • play sculpture
  • pop up park Library
  • new signage with the history of the park land

Council has contributed about $100,000 from the 2016/17 general funds to the improvement of Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park and will work closely with Family and Community Services and Hastings Homeless Network to engage with both users of the space and the wider community.

A concept plan has been developed and we would like to hear your views. Have a look at the plan in the document library and share your views in the submission tab below.
