The current Special Rate Variation (SRV) of 4.43% finishes 30 June 2017. Council is currently talking with the community about whether to make this SRV permanent - Making a decision about future rates.

There are a number of requirements that the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) set in order to apply for this permanent rate increase. Two key requirements are:

  • That prior to applying in February, Councils need to indicate that they are considering applying for a SRV by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). The deadline for the EOI is December (exact date is yet to confirmed).
  • That any application to apply for a rate increase is documented in Council’s formal plans - the Delivery Program and Long Term Financial Plan.

In order to meet these requirements Council has made a number of amendments to both the 2013-2017 Delivery Program and the Long Term Financial Plan, You can have a look at these amendments and share your views by writing a submission.
