  • Brief overview of proposed changes

    These proposed changes relate to assessment and payment of development contributions for business, student accommodation and storage premises and include:

    • Exemption of payment of water & sewerage head works charges for non-residential development in all land use zones, including home business in residential zones, with the $2,000 exemption amount to be indexed annually in line with the Consumer Price Index.
    • Provisions for payment of water, sewer and s94 contributions for non-residential development by installment over 24 months for amounts up to $50,000.
    • A new category for student accommodation and provisions for deferral of payment of contributions up to 5 years with security by way of a charge on land or bank guarantee.
    • A new category for storage premises that caps water and sewer contributions for premises up to 3,000m2. Other approved uses at the site, e.g. manager’s residence, wash bays, etc would continue to be assessed separately.
