Thank you for your interest in this project. The consultation has now concluded.

Housing

What is being proposed?

A Local Housing Strategy outlines how and where housing will be delivered to meet the community’s needs now and into the future.

The Draft Local Housing Strategy identifies what makes parts of Port Macquarie-Hastings Region more or less suitable for housing development, and what types of housing might be delivered. Where could new housing be located to benefit the community? What types of housing might suit a location in 10 or 20 years? Council’s draft Housing Strategy considers these important questions and more.

Planning housing for a growing region

Council engaged consultants to prepare a draft Local Housing Strategy 2041 (LHS), which sets a framework for the provision of housing across our region over the next 20 years. The Strategy is accompanied by an Implementation Plan, which aims to translate the findings of the Strategy into actions.

The NSW Government requires all Councils to prepare a Local Housing Strategy to address how additional housing will be delivered to accommodate the expected growth of our area to 2041.

The Port Macquarie-Hastings region has been growing faster than other regions on the Mid-North Coast. We want to take a proactive approach in the development of a prosperous and liveable region that provides a range of housing options for our community.
