The Roads Policy Suite consists of four policies (listed below) which have been developedto define the manner in which Council considers and manages roads, roadside vegetation and bridges and culverts in line with NSW Legislation.
Road Reserve and Public Roads Management Policy
This policy sets out the principles by which Port Macquarie Hastings Council manages specific infrastructure, activities, works and events within public roads and road reserves throughout the Local Government Area (LGA). This is a new policy which will merge current policies as outlined under section 7 of the policy.
Sealed Roads Policy
This new policy applies to all sealed roads within our Local Government Area (LGA). Sealed roads are those with surface treatments such as bitumen, asphalt or concrete to create a smooth driving service.
This draft policy defines methods ofroad categorisation and the principles guiding the management of sealed roads within the bounds of Council’s available resourcing. This is in conjunction with Council’s Road Reserve and Public Road Management policy.
Exceptions to this policy include the management of Crown Roads.
Roadside Vegetation Management Policy
This is a revised policy that applies to all road and stormwater management systems, both formed and unformed, throughout the Local Government Area (LGA). It specifically addresses the management of roadside and stormwater vegetation within Council’s jurisdiction.
Exceptions to this policy include the management of Crown Land not listed on Council’s Road Asset Register, or where Council has been appointed as Trustee to Crown Public Reserves.
Bridges and Culverts Policy
This is a new policy, that applies to all bridges, culverts and other structures and defines the management principles associated with bridges and culverts within our Local Government Area (LGA).
Exceptions to this policy include the management of Crown Land not listed on Council’s Road Asset Register or where Council has been appointed as Trustee to Crown Public Reserves.
