Consultation has concluded

Sponsorship is one of the ways that we can achieve financially sustainable programs, events and services for the community.

The Sponsorship Policy outlines our approach to seeking and receiving sponsorship for Council activities or events.

This policy applies to all incoming sponsorships received by Council, whether in cash or value “in kind”.

This Policy standardises our sponsorship practices and procedures and ensures an open and transparent process, along with compliance with relevant legislation.

Background

Council adopted the current Sponsorship Policy and associated Sponsorship Guidelines in February 2013. The Policy and Guidelines aim to ensure an open and transparent process is applied to sponsorships received by Council, and that Council complies with relevant legislation. A separate process is used for sponsorships and grants provided by Council to community groups.

The Sponsorship Policy is based on the Independent Commission Against Corruption’s (ICAC) Sponsorship in the Public Sector (2006) which has been designed to be used as a guide by public sector agencies in developing policies and procedures for receiving sponsorship.
