Thank you for your interest in this project. The consultation has now concluded.

Flynns Beach

We need your help to drive the future vision for Flynn’s Beach - a site that is significant to the Port Macquarie-Hastings community. Over the coming months Council will be embarking on a range of comprehensive community engagement activities in order to determine the most appropriate use for the site and prepare a master plan to guide future development for the popular Flynns Beach Reserve.

The master plan will outline a long term direction for the reserve, and will ensure any upgrades meet the needs of the local community now, while also considering our region’s future population and tourism growth. Through developing an overall design we can address key issues such as recreation facilities, car parking and access, as well as what our community wants to see in the space, including improvements to existing amenities or new amenities, including concepts for future furniture, signage and lighting.

In addition to the development of the master plan, an 80m section of seawall, between the surf club/kiosk and southern beach parking will be replaced in the coming months. These works will improve public safety and accessibility to the beach, and will include stairs, ramps, footpaths and handrails, with the remaining sections of seawall to be prioritised for replacement within the broader master plan.

We are also asking for feedback on how we can better manage all forms of traffic in the Flynns Beach precinct including:

  • walking infrastructure (including footpaths, stairs, road crossings, signs and line marking),
  • general road, pedestrian and cyclist safety
  • access to and from the Flynns beach shops from the beach and
  • parking.

Due to site restrictions it is not possible to create additional parking in the Flynn’s Beach shopping precinct. However we are seeking your feedback on the management of available parking e.g. parking time restrictions, disability parking, bus stops, loading zones, no stopping/no parking zones.
