Hyndmans Creek Bridge

Council has identified three timber bridges located on Comboyne Road for replacement within the 2016/17 and 2017/18 financial years.

The Bridge Replacement Program is part of the significant upcoming works program to be rolled out across the Local Government Area over the next three financial years.

This builds on last year’s $85 million program, a record achievement for Council.

Hyndmans Creek, Bulli Creek and Hartys Creek bridges have reached the end of their service life and the existing structures will be demolished and replaced with single span reinforced concrete bridges.

Hyndmans Creek, Bulli Creek and Hartys Creek bridges have reached the end of their service life and the existing structures will be demolished and replaced with single span reinforced concrete bridges.

The $3M project delivery of Hyndmans and Hartys Creek bridges will be jointly funded by Council and Roads and Maritime Services, who are contributing $820,000 through their Repair and Improvement of Regional Roads program.

The Bulli Creek bridge is a $1.6 million project and will be jointly funded by the NSW State and Federal Governments Bridges Renewal Program.

The new bridges will be built from prefabricated concrete components which will help minimise the impact of road closures to the community.

Pre-construction works including vegetation clearing and shoulder widening will begin next week at Hyndmans Creek bridge with speed reductions and traffic controls in place.

During 2017 Council will close Comboyne Road on two occasions to facilitate works, including demolition, installation of concrete girders, guard rail and barriers and asphalting for each bridge. Detour routes will be in place for the shutdown period.

During the works period traffic controls will be in place and road users are advised to expect delays and allow extra travel time.

The overall aim of these works is to:

  • provide a reliable and safer regional route along Comboyne Road; and
  • provide a quality bridge for current and future users.

Council would like to thank the community for their patience while these important works are undertaken.

Note: During construction contraflow, reduced speeds, detours and other traffic controls will be in place and delays are expected. Council appreciates the community’s co-operation and patience as this important bridge replacement project takes place.
