Our region is growing and changing. Port Macquarie-Hastings is known for its lifestyle, beauty and liveability and is attracting many new residents from all different ages and backgrounds.

As we grow and change, we’re looking ahead to the next four years. Council’s Community Inclusion Plan and Cultural Plan are up for review and we’re drafting a new Activation Plan to guide how our spaces and places are used. We’d love to hear from you.

This is your chance to tell us what you love about our community and what you care about. We want to include your voice in shaping our new plans and making our region an even better place to live, work, and connect.

The development of these plans involves actively listening to the community. To ensure these plans genuinely reflect the values and priorities of our residents, we’ve opened up our engagement. We’re looking for voices to influence and guide actions in the plans, ensuring they are inclusive, representative, and relevant.

Community Inclusion Plan

The Community Inclusion Plan outlines how all people living in our region can participate fully in community activities, regardless of their background or abilities. Our plan includes initiatives to improve accessibility, promote diversity, and foster a sense of belonging for everyone.

Cultural Plan

The Cultural Plan outlines how our community can showcase and celebrate the unique cultural heritage of this region. It also looks at ways to support local artists and creatives and ensure diverse cultural expressions are recognised and valued.

Activation Plan

This new plan will guide Council on how our community would like to use our spaces and places, engaging residents through events, programs, and initiatives that address local needs and foster a sense of belonging.

How to get involved

We’ve listed some groups below that we’d like to hear from, but no matter what part of the community you’re from, your voice matters.

  • Seniors: ensuring our older residents have the programs, support, and spaces they need.
  • Youth: listening to the needs and aspirations of our young people.
  • Multicultural communities: celebrating and supporting our diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • First Nations: involving the voices and perspectives of First Nations communities.
  • Disability: enhancing accessibility and inclusion for people living with disabilities.
  • Creative industries: supporting the arts and creative sectors in contributing to community development.
