Policy Review - Investment Policy

Thank you for your interest in this project. This consultation has now concluded.

The purpose of the Investment Policy is to establish a framework for making decisions regarding the appropriate investment of Council’s cash or cash equivalent funds. It is designed to ensure that Council and its representatives exercise the care, diligence and skill that a prudent person would exercise in investing Council’s funds.

It is a guide to the investment process, and also ensures that Council’s investment portfolio:

  • is adequately protected from a potential loss of capital or interest, from investing in high risk products, and;
  • achieves appropriate rates of return, and maintains sufficient levels of liquidity and flexibility.

Before amending a policy it needs to be placed on exhibition so the community can have their say on this decision.

Council's current adopted Investment Policy has been reviewed with a number of changes proposed. The changes proposed are both minor, and also more significant in nature. The draft Investment Policy 2017 is available for review or please refer to the Summary of Investment Policy changes.
