North Shore Infrastructure Grant Funding
Consultation has concluded
On 22 May 2020 the Australian Government announced a new $500 million Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI Program).
Through the 2020-21 Budget, the Australian Government announced a $1 billion extension of the LRCI Program, following strong community and local government support.
This program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Council has been allocated $3.4 million for across the Cowper and Lyne electorates. Of this, Council has allocated $960,000 to the North Shore.
The Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan and draft North Shore Community Plan have identified a need for improved pedestrian links to Coal Wharf Reserve.
We are also aware of the community’s desire for some North Shore roads to be resurfaced, these roads being North Shore Drive and Shoreline Drive; or Riverside Drive.
Council is now seeking feedback from the North Shore community on which is the higher priority to allocate the grant funding.
There are 3 options available:
1A) SHORELINE DRIVE: Section 1 from 65 Shoreline Drive to 1 Shoreline Drive and Section 2 from 11 North Shore Drive to 55 North Shore Drive; and noting the exclusion of the road surface that has already been resurfaced.
1B) RIVERSIDE DRIVE: Council has received a request from North Side Progress Association to reseal Riverside Drive leading to the Hibbard Ferry. This option still needs to be scoped.
2) FOOTPATH: A new footpath for the North Shore providing access from the Ferry Wharf to the Coal Wharf Reserve and continuing along the shoreline into the Coal Wharf Reserve.
