Gardening works in progress at Port Macquarie Historic Cemetery

Guruk - Traditional Birpai name for Port Macquarie

You may have noticed that the signage is now in place. Over the coming days this signage will develop a rusty patina which will give it an aged look. Planning is now underway for artwork to be sandblasted onto the walls.

Work is also underway to create a pathway down to a soon to be upgraded arboretum. Other work includes refreshing the picnic shelters and removing those that are now beyond repair and assessing the health of the trees.

A community session with regular users of the arboretum and the Friends of Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park identified a desire to seen bbq's and a sculptural place piece in this space. A concept will be developed over the next couple of weeks based on these ideas.

This project is a joint project by Port Macquarie Hastings Council and the Sunrise Rotary Club of Port Macquarie.
