Port Macquarie Town Centre Parking Plan
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is planning for the future of parking in the Town Centre — and we want your input!
As part of Council’s endorsed Parking Management Plan (May 2023), we’re developing a tailored Parking Precinct Plan to help deliver parking that is fair, accessible, and future-ready.
Why this matters:
We are working to ensure that our Port Macquarie Town Centre can grow sustainably as a vibrant centre, accessible by everyone. By 2027–2028, parking in the Port Macquarie Town Centre is expected to regularly exceed 85% capacity. That means smarter solutions are urgently needed to:
- Manage growing demand
- Support local business and visitor access
- Improve traffic flow and turnover
- Improve accessibility for people walking, riding or catching public transport to
This work goes beyond cars — it’s about making access easier, supporting vibrant centres, and balancing the needs of all users, including residents, workers, shoppers, and tourists.
What we’re working on:
Council is developing a plan that will:
- Create a Parking Management Precinct Plan tailored to Port Macquarie Town Centre
- Explore options like time limits, permits, pricing and infrastructure
- Integrate sustainable transport options
- Support safety, equity, and a better urban experience
What we’re asking:
Your feedback will help shape a smarter, more balanced parking approach. We want to know:
- What would make the Town Centre easier to access and enjoy?
- How well is parking working for you now?
- What’s missing or frustrating?
