Consultation has concluded
We want you to us help shape what a future ‘creative heart’ looks like in Port Macquarie Town Centre.
So what is a creative heart? We think that a future creative heart in Port Macquarie could be a communal place to tell local stories and histories of our area, and celebrate the Town Centre’s cultural assets (such as performance and exhibition venues, creative retail shops, streets, public art and history and heritage) that connect our communities, showcase and support the work of our local creative people and businesses.
We want to hear from you about what type of creative heart you want to see in Port Macquarie. Your input will help guide the development of a Cultural Precinct Plan, which will help Council, creative practitioners, and the community work together towards more cultural and creative uses of the precinct in the future.
Some examples of the types of opportunities that a Cultural Precinct Plan could identify include:
Creating more opportunities to showcase the work of creative practitioners and businesses
Enhancing or creating public spaces and landmarks
Increasing street level activity and experience – influencing the way our streets and building interfaces are designed
Lighting and digital artworks to create more things to do at night
Links and connections between the heart to together destinations in Port Macquarie
Plus, other opportunities and ideas that we hear from the community!
The map below shows the location of the cultural heart, within the Port Macquarie Town Centre.
