Consultation has concluded

We invite you to help inform great interpretation and storytelling in our region.

Council receives many requests from our community asking for interpretation in our public spaces. We all love a good sign, and we have so much great information (and stories) to share about our culture, heritage, community and environment. As a result, we’ve ended up with lots of different sorts of interpretation with little consistency.

You are invited to provide input and feedback to develop a ‘Public Spaces Interpretation Strategy’ for the region that aligns with our cultural vision ‘to be creative, inclusive, diverse, innovative and connected’. The strategy will inform policy and guidelines to ensure a transparent and standard assessment is followed for all formal applications received for any interpretation associated with the regions stories and rich Cultural Heritage.

Interpretation can take a diverse variety of forms including signage, sculptural installations, artistic pavement applications, lighting or projection installations and much more.
