Rocks Ferry Reserve Flood Recovery

Consultation has concluded

Rocks Ferry Reserve is a much-loved outdoor recreational reserve for the Wauchope community. It was the place where we enjoyed Wauchope’s Riverwalk, boat ramp, river beach, playground and picnic facilities - a riverside retreat on hot summer days.

Significant work is required at the Rock Ferry site due to the extensive damage to the riverbank and loss of facilities during the March 2021 flood. The boat ramp, boat ramp access, car park, children’s playground, fish cleaning table and footpath were severely damaged or swept away in the flood waters. Wauchope has lost a significant outdoor recreational facility and its access to the river for boating.

We understand the damage caused by the flood has been a source of community concern. We want to carefully consider the future of the Reserve based on your thoughts and experiences.

Please tell us what you love and value about Rocks Ferry Reserve so together we can plan a way forward.

Next Steps

After the exhibition closes, we will review and consider community feedback before finalising a strategy and a path forward together.

We are working to restore some facilities for the summer months, namely the pathways and access to the riverside beach. We understand the importance of the boat ramp, however this will take considerable time to reinstate.
