Thankyou for your interest in this project. Consultation has now concluded and a report will be compiled for a future Council meeting.

Rotary Park is an open green space located above Town Beach and bounded by Stewart Street, Lord Street and William Street. The space is frequently used by community members and visitors who enjoy the barbeques, picnic shelters and children’s playground.

We are developing a Master Plan for Rotary Park with the aim of improving accessibility, useability and enjoyment of the park for existing and future users, and visitors to the region.

Rotary Park was established in 1956 as a Rotary Port Macquarie club project along with the Port Macquarie Observatory (PMO), which was built in 1960. The observatory is set to undergo a revamp later this year*. See what is planned for the PMO.

*This upgrade of the observatory is funded by a NSW and Federal Grant obtained by the Port Macquarie Astronomical Association and is not a Council project.

We want to ensure that the upgraded Master Plan aligns with the community’s vision for the space; is respectful of the work that collective Rotary clubs have undertaken and considers the needs of the Observatory; current and future users, and local residents and businesses.

We are seeking your feedback on the draft Master Plan.

Project scope

  • Landscaping design around the new Observatory building
  • Review of park usability and functionality including:
    • Footpath connections
    • Seating and shelters
    • Entry signage
    • Traffic flow and parking

While the playground will not be upgraded as part of the Master Plan, there are plans to install a new playground at this location in the coming years.

How you can get involved

Feedback should be submitted no later Monday 12 December 2022.
