Imagine our future as a smart community

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is developing a Smart Community Roadmap to guide the planning and delivery of smart services and infrastructure for our community using technology and innovation. We’re encouraging everyone to ‘imagine’ our smart community future and assist in building the Roadmap.

A number of smart community initiatives are already in place in our region including free public Wi-Fi, sensor parking, smart street lighting and a co-working and innovation hub. The Roadmap will identify and prioritise further initiatives that ensure local community services and infrastructure are fit for the future and support innovation to thrive in our region.

Smart communities leverage new and emerging digital technology, data and innovative practices to improve liveability, sustainability and collaboration and drive economic, social and environmental opportunities. Importantly, they put people at the centre and are focused first and foremost on solving problems and addressing community needs.

The Smart Community Roadmap will be integrated with Council’s existing corporate strategies and plans across all areas, including the development of the THINK 2050 Community Strategic Plan to directly deliver on agreed local community and industry needs.

Here’s how you can get involved:

• Complete the Smart Community Survey under the "Submission" tab below - the survey closes at 5pm on Tuesday, 26 May 2020.
• Register and attend a Smart Community ‘Imagine’ Digital Webinar by completing the "Webinar Registration" form below:
  5.30 - 7pm on Tuesday 19^th May 2020 - open to general public members
  10:30am - 12.00pm on Wednesday 20^th May 2020 - open to business and industry representatives

Registrations close at 5pm on Monday, 18^th May 2020.
