The day will feature local community groups coming together to help celebrate and look back at the bridges history from its early days as a one lane ‘humpty back’ bridge.

After the opening the northbound lane will open to traffic. The old bridge will continue to carry the southbound traffic until late January. Once both lanes are in operation, the old bridge will be demolished, which is expected to take approximately 6 months.

Parking for the celebration is available on the Laurieton side of the bridge at the Vince Inmon sporting complex in Castle St.

A second, more official opening is planned for 2017 with Port Macquarie-Hastings Councillor’s, Councils Project Team, Construction Partners and State Government dignitaries
