Consultation has concluded
The consultation period has now closed, and the Engagement Report is available for viewing.
The past 12 months has seen the Community Infrastructure Planning and Design Team working towards the review, update, and creation of a number of key draft policies relating to the provision of community infrastructure and related services.
The Draft Transport and Stormwater Drainage Policy Suite consists of five (5) new policies, seeking to clearly define the way Council and the community utilise our road reserves, support and encourage the use of Electric Vehicles, implement and encourage Active Transport and Public Transport usage and to define he way we identify, map, and manage risks associated with stormwater overland flows.
Draft Electric Vehicle (EV) Road Management and Infrastructure Policy
This is a new policy seeking to define the principles by which Council will approach the installation of EV facilities and associated electrical infrastructure and applies to Council owned land and road reserves throughout the Local Government Area (LGA).
Draft Public Transport Infrastructure PolicyThis is a new policy clarifying how Council intends to manage public transport infrastructure and facilities that are owned or managed by Council. The Policy aligns with the objectives of the Regional Integrated Transport Strategy (RITS) and addresses how Council will advocate for improved public transport in the area.
Draft Stormwater Overland Flow Policy
This is a new policy to establish and clarify how Council manages stormwater overland flow risks within the Local Government Area (LGA). The management principles defined in the policy aims to mitigate flood risks, protect property, enhance public safety, and maintain ecological health by effectively managing overland flow pathways and stormwater runoff.Draft Kerbside Use and Parking Management Policy
This is a new policy which merges the current Parking Policy with Kerbside Use management. This Kerbside Use and Parking Management Policy is an overarching policy document, which sets out how kerbside use and parking management in the Port Macquarie-Hastings local government area (LGA) should progress over the short to longer term.
This Policy aims to manage increasing on-street parking pressures, especially in town centres. It supports various planning strategies and recognises the importance of cars for access while promoting a balanced, sustainable transport system. The Policy focuses on providing safe, convenient, and efficient parking facilities, enhancing the region’s amenity, environmental quality, and overall experience. It outlines a comprehensive approach to managing both on-street and off-street parking, including provision, control, and enforcement.
Draft Active Transport Crossing, Footpaths and Walkways in Public Road Reserves Policy
This is a new policy which merges the current Footpath and Walkways in Public Road Reserves Policy with a new policy for Active Transport Crossings.
The policy aims to outline Council’s position on the provision and prioritisation of safe and functional footpaths, walkways, and pedestrian and cycle crossing infrastructure, and define the criteria by which assessments for new infrastructure can be undertaken across our region.
