We’re planning for the future of the Port Macquarie Hastings coastline, estuaries and waterways. Your feedback will help shape the priorities and actions that guide coastal management over the next 10 years and beyond.

At this stage, we want to hear about what you value, what you know about your local coastal areas, and the issues or opportunities you think Council should consider as we develop the Coastal Management Program.

You can learn more about the Coastal Management Program and coastal hazards by reading the fact sheets, watching the explainer videos or attending a drop-in session.

Your feedback will help inform the development of management options and actions for the CMP.

There will be another opportunity to review and comment on the draft CMP before it is finalised.

Consultation closes on 15 July 2026.

A Coastal Management Program (CMP) is a long-term plan required under NSW legislation that helps guide how we manage our coast, estuaries and waterways.

It will set priorities and actions for the next 10 years and beyond, including how we:

  • Manage coastal hazards like beach erosion, shoreline recession, coastal inundation and tidal inundation
  • Protect coastal environments, waterways and cultural heritage
  • Support safe access, recreation and coastal lifestyles

It focuses on the places, values and activities affected by coastal processes and hazards.

As you explore this page and complete the survey, these focus areas will help guide your feedback.

The CMP follows a five-stage process set by the NSW Government and is informed by scientific studies, modelling, local knowledge, community feedback and input from government agencies. We are currently at Stage 3 - identifying and developing coastal management options.
