Port Macquarie Hastings Council has developed a draft Code of Meeting Practice that includes the principles and guidelines for conducting Council meetings.

The Code addresses:

  • Meeting schedule and timing
  • Attendance at Council meetings
  • Order of business
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Rules of debate
  • Decisions of the Council
  • Roles and responsibilities of Councillors

Council resolved at its October 2025 Ordinary Council meeting to place this draft policy on public exhibition for a period not less than 42 days with a further report to come back to Council detailing the outcomes of submissions.
