This consultation has now concluded. Thank you to all who have contributed to this project with feedback.

At the Council meeting held 19 May 2022, Councillors resolved to place the Draft Road Corridor Strategy on exhibition for a period of 28 days.

What is the Strategy about?

We have prepared a long-term road corridor strategy for Hastings River Drive, Ocean Drive and Kendall Road (MR538 and MR600) to guide future transport planning along these corridors. This 54km road corridor links Port Macquarie to neighbouring local towns and villages along the coast, and then inland to Kew and Kendall.

Review the draft Strategy, Section Improvements, and Frequently Asked Questions in the Document Library.

This strategy will focus on:

  • preserving the corridor
  • setting out a broad design framework for future transport network upgrades for all users, including traffic, walking, cycling, and public transport
  • defining priorities for future road maintenance, operation, and the safety of all road users.
  • How was the strategy developed?

How was the Strategy prepared?

From August 2020 to September 2021, we consulted with the community and key stakeholders by surveys and interactive online workshops. Bitzios consulting consulted with the community, undertook technical investigations and analysed traffic to understand who uses the corridor. The draft Road Corridor Strategy has been developed on the basis of this information.

Next steps

Following public exhibition, community feedback will be reviewed and the final draft strategy will be reported to a future Council meeting, to enable Council to make an informed decision on this project.

Regional Road Corridor Map

over 3 years

Stage 1 consultation has now closed. The map is still available to view the community comments.

How to use the interactive map

  • Read the document to understand each specific theme/icon and the type of feedback we are looking for
  • In the toolbox in the top left hand corner of the map click the + icon to drag pins to specific locations along the corridor and provide feedback in the comment boxes.
  • Please be as specific when describing issues.  e.g. drop a pin in the location and type ‘footpath is missing’ or ‘crossing needs improvement’ or whatever your idea is.
  • To filter the pins, click on the filter button in the toolbox in the top left corner of the map.

We will consider all of these comments as we plan for the future of the Hastings River Drive, Ocean Drive and Kendall Road Corridor.

CLOSED: This map consultation has concluded.
