We recognise the strong social, cultural and economic value of a vibrant creative and cultural community. Creativity and expression contribute to local identity, community wellbeing and the ongoing vitality of the Port Macquarie‑Hastings regional economy.
In 2024, Council undertook Mapping Our Creative Landscape, which helped build a shared understanding of how people participate in arts and culture across the region, what was working well, and gaps in the creative industries.
Since then, the conditions in which creatives, cultural organisations and audiences operate have continued to evolve. Access to affordable spaces, funding challenges and opportunities for paid creative work are placing new pressures on the sector, particularly in regional areas.
This survey is not a full review or re‑mapping exercise, but provides a snapshot to help Council understand:
- How creative and cultural activity is functioning in 2026
- Confidence, sustainability and capacity in the local creative sector
- Barriers and pressures facing creative work and participation
- Priority areas where support could make the greatest difference.
Your feedback will help guide Council’s programs, actions and investment to support a more resilient and sustainable creative sector.
Have your say
To ensure Council’s creative vision is aligned with community needs we are seeking your input via the attached survey. The data will help us plan our cultural development activities and actions so that we can continue to deliver and grow programs that excite and engage.
Whether you work in the creative industries, support the sector, or participate as an audience member or community participant, your experience matters.
This survey will be open from 11 May to 11 June, 2026
