Greenmeadows Drive

Dual lanes on Ocean Drive between Matthew Flinders Drive to Greenmeadows Drive, Port Macquarie are being planned.

Council is planning to upgrade around 3.4 kilometres of Ocean Drive from two lanes to four lanes between Matthew Flinders Drive to Greenmeadows Drive (South), Port Macquarie.

Council has received funds of $10 million from the NSW State Government, which will complete the design, environmental assessment and planning approval for this project and contribute to construction.

    Now that the final design phase of the project has been completed, Council has arranged information sessions to inform the community about the design. Residents and stakeholders are invited to attend drop in sessions to find out more about the final design for the project.

    Port Macquarie-Hastings Council recently publicly displayed the Ocean Drive Duplication Review of Environmental Factors (REF). Council also held two Community Information Sessions in June 2016 to talk to the community and respond to questions in relation to the REF.

    We have added three Fact Sheets - Traffic, Noise and Environment. These will provide further information that may be able to answer some of your questions.

    The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) will give more information on these topics and will be on exhibition later in the year and open for submissions for a four week period.

    At the Ordinary Council meeting on 16 September 2015,SMEC were appointed the contract to undertake the detailed design and preconstruction approvals.This includes survey, geotechnical, traffic and environmental investigations.

    As part of this design, SMEC will undertake a number of community consultations commencing early in 2016. More information about these opportunities will be added to this site as details become available.

    In November 2013 the first community forum was held to discuss planned road works on Ocean Drive (Greenmeadows Drive to Matthew Flinders/Emerald Drive)

    After receiving a $10million grant from the State Government, Council is planning to continue the duplication of Ocean Drive between Greenmeadows Drive and Matthew Flinders/Emerald Drive.

    In addition to a community forum, Council engaged the Birpai Aboriginal Land Council, the Koala Preservation Society, the Lighthouse Plaza Shopping Centre and local residents and property owners along the route.
