Help shape the future of Rainbow Beach Reserve

The Draft Rainbow Beach Reserve Master Plan is now on public exhibition, and we invite you to have your say.

The draft plan sets a long-term direction for improving the reserve’s paths, accessibility, safety, landscaping, drainage and parking while protecting the natural coastal environment and retaining valued community spaces.

You can view the plan on a page in the document library.

The draft master plan proposes a mix of new and existing features, including:

  • retaining the existing grassy knoll social gathering space and key paths
  • retaining and expanding existing open grass activity space
  • formalising parking using grass-pave treatments to replace existing asphalt and improve accessibility
  • protecting and enhancing native foreshore vegetation
  • improving walking connections and access to the beach, including accessible options
  • improved drainage strategy and future-ready coastal erosion management (to be informed by Council’s upcoming Coastal Management Program)
  • improved visitor amenities and outlook areas (such as viewing spaces, barbeque shelters, shower stations, seating and signage)

View the plan on a page or read the full report in our document library before submitting your feedback.

Help us plan for a staged delivery by completing the survey question around priority project areas. These priorities will be incorporated into the final master plan and delivered based on feasibility, asset renewal programs, funding and community feedback.

The following elements are not included in the priority ranking choices:

  • Flood recovery works to repair the viewing platform and surrounds will be delivered over the next few months and are unrelated to the master plan.
  • Play space upgrades are scheduled as part of Council’s equipment lifecycle and coordinated with other site works where possible. We’ll seek community feedback on the play space when that upgrade is being planned.
  • Coastal erosion management will be addressed through Council’s upcoming Coastal Management Program and are not included in the priority ranking.
