52 John Oxley Drive - Land Reclassification

Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to reclassify Council-owned land at 52 John Oxley Drive, Port Macquarie from community land to operational land under the Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Environmental Plan 2011.

The site is located within the Health and Education Precinct and has been identified by Council as strategically important for potential future upgrades to John Oxley Drive and the surrounding transport network.

Public Exhibition

The Planning Proposal (including supporting documents) [link] is on public exhibition from Tuesday 28 April to Thursday 4 June 2026.

Community members are invited to review the proposal and provide feedback during this period.

Council is proposing to amend Schedule 4 of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Environmental Plan 2011 to reclassify:

  • 52 John Oxley Drive, Port Macquarie (Lot 1 DP1012883)
  • From: Community Land
  • To: Operational Land

No physical works or development are proposed as part of this planning proposal.

The reclassification would:

  • Support future planning for potential road duplication and transport upgrades along John Oxley Drive
  • Enable Council to use the land for future infrastructure purposes if required
  • Align land classification with the strategic purpose for which the land was originally acquired

As required under the Local Government Act 1993, an independent public hearing will be held following the exhibition period and legislative interval (anticipated in July 2026).

The public hearing provides an opportunity for submitters to speak to their written submission before an independent chairperson.

Further details regarding the hearing will be provided following exhibition. You can register your interest to attend in the survey below.
