Thankyou for your interest in this project. Consultation has now concluded and a report will be compiled for a future Council meeting.
From the 24 May to 1 June 2022, we consulted with the community to seek feedback on the Port Macquarie Business Rate Review, as part of the consultation for the IP&R.
Council deferred its decision on 23 June 2022 to an Extraordinary Meeting on 29 June 2022.
See the document library for the Council agendas and summary engagement report.
Project Overview
Since 1993, business property owners within the Port Macquarie CBD have paid a "Port Macquarie Business CBD" rate, which incorporates a Town Centre Master Plan (TCMP) component, as a collaboration with Council to revitalise the Port Macquarie CBD. Following this, in 1994, a TCMP Sub-Committee was formed with a number of CBD business property owners with an aim to continue developing the Port Macquarie Town Centre Master Plan and guide the use of the TCMP funds. The Port Macquarie CBD has been revitalised using money raised from the TCMP funds, grants, and other funding since that time.
We're reviewing the historical Town Centre Master Plan funding, processes, management and outcomes and want to hear your thoughts.
What are your thoughts on the future development and maintenance of the Port Macquarie CBD?
What do you value in this area?
How do you feel about other CBDs in our region?
We encourage you to find out more information on the Town Centre Master Plan through our FAQs and take our short survey below to share your feedback with us.
Council is planning to undertake a further detailed review of the TCMP which will consider alternative models of business rating, historical TCMP processes and management structures, and comprehensive engagement with the community and stakeholders, to propose a pathway forward for the future development and maintenance of the Port Macquarie CBD. This engagement through the IP&R public exhibition period will help to inform that review.
