Consultation has concluded

Port Macquarie Hastings Council has received $500,000 from Transport NSW under the Vibrant Streets Package – Permit/Plug/Play Pilot Program, to identify event-ready streets and deliver long- term cost reductions by streamlining approval processes for temporary road closures.

The Program also supports permanent street upgrades like on-site power, street furniture, and safety barriers to make it faster, easier, and cheaper for councils and event organisers to hold pop-up events such as markets and street parties on local streets in urban centres.

Our streets are key public spaces that play a critical role in not only movement but in supporting local businesses, community connection and physical and mental well-being.

As part of this grant, the following locations have been identified:

  • Town Square - Port Macquarie
  • Clarence Street (Fishermans Wharf end) - Port Macquarie
  • Phillips Lane and Hay Street intersection - Port Macquarie
  • Hastings Street - Wauchope

We want to hear from you

This survey aims to gather valuable feedback on your experiences organising or considering outdoor events that require street closures. Your input will enable us to co-design solutions to make it easier and more attractive for community groups to host street events and in turn transform our streets into more vibrant public spaces.

This survey closes Tuesday October 22 at 5:00pm
