The Public Forum Rules now allow Councils to determine the guidelines under which public forums are to be conducted and when they are held. Under the provisions of the new model of meeting practice, public forums can no longer be held during a Council meeting.
The updated rules include:
- When and how a public forum can be held
- Timeframes to speak at a public forum
- Registering speakers for the public forum
- Roles and responsibilities of speakers, Councillors and Council staff
The draft will be publicly exhibited for 28 days with a further report to come back to the December 2025 Ordinary Council meeting for Council’s consideration.
